bulletHOW IT ALL BEGAN.
spacerMy best pal did it first.

...like a burst couch.

The seats are the originals. So they're.....woah! 48 years old! That's pretty old for a seat. That's pretty old for a car, never mind a seat. So it's restoration time on the seats too. The levers were completely locked solid, so I had to get some heat on 'em from a small blow torch, then tapped them with a hammer. WD40 helped too. Now they even spring back to their original positions. Then it was time to strip the covers off and sand down frames, then paint with enamel gloss black, then recover with brand new covers in VW off-white with saddle piping from TMI, through Karmann Konnection . Lovely. One of the front seats has been done. Here's the second one, as it stood last night (16/8/06)

It can be pretty difficult to bend the pins back from holding the seat vinyl. I used a hammer and a sharp screwdriver.
